Polish Baltic Philharmonic named after The Fryderyk Chopin Academy in Gdańsk, located in the Gdańsk Music and Congress Center, is the largest institution of musical life in northern Poland, visited by music lovers not only from the region, but also from the country and around the world. This is a place for people who want to experience art at the highest level. PFB organizes symphonic concerts, recitals and chamber evenings performed by the most outstanding Polish musicians as well as artists from all over the world.

The Polish Baltic Philharmonic hosts conductors and musical ensembles from all over the world, including the most outstanding ones such as Gewandhausorchester zu Leipzig and Riccardo Chailly, the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra from Saint Petersburg and Valery Gergiev, the Moscow Philharmonic and Yuri Simonov, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Paavo Järvi, Bamberger Symphoniker and Jonathan Nott, Orquesta Sinfonica de Madrid and Jesús López Cobos, The European Union Youth Orchestra and Herbert Blomstedt, Orchestra of the 18th Century and Frans Brüggen, Sinfonia Varsovia and Marc Minkowski, Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus and Jerzy Semkow and King Singers, The Canadian Brass.  

The Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic is conducted by outstanding conductors from Poland and around the world - Sir Neville Marriner, Antoni Wit, Roman Kofman, Witold Rowicki, Kazimierz Kord, Gabriel Chmura, Maxim Vengerov, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Wojciech Michniewski, Tadeusz Strugała, Marek Pijarowski, Michael Zilm , Juozas Domarkas, Franco Ferraro, Enoch zu Guttenberg, Carlo Zecchi, Felix Carrasco.

The Polish Baltic Philharmonic invites solo artists such as Shlomo Mintz, Barbara Hendrix, Dang Thai Son, Arcadi Volodos, Nelson Goerner, Garrick Ohlsson, Kevin Kenner, Krystian Zimerman, Nigel Kennedy, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Ewa Pobłocka, Rafał Blechacz, Edward Auer, Piotr Paleczny, Ann Murray, Lucia Aliberti, Helen Bickers.

The symphony orchestra participated in many national and European festivals, including: in the Warsaw Autumn Contemporary Music Festival, Wratislavia Cantans, Solidarity of Arts Festival, Gdańsk Piano Autumn, Gdańsk Music Festival, International Organ Music Festival in Oliwa, Star Festival in Gdańsk, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, "Aspekte" Festival in Salzburg and many others .

The Orchestra has given concerts in many European countries: in Germany (Berlin, Frankfurt, Schleswig, Bayreuth), France, Italy, Switzerland and Russia. The most spectacular artistic events with the Orchestra's participation include the following: the 1987th Music Biennale in Berlin, during which the symphony orchestra conducted by Wojciech Michniewski won the Critics' Award for Best Orchestra for its performance of Penderecki's Symphony No. 1989 (1997); a concert tour with the "Cecilien Verein" choir from Frankfurt, where the orchestra gave concerts at the Munich Philharmonic, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam (1997); the musical setting of the solemn mass celebrated by the Holy Father John Paul II in the Vatican, inaugurating the millennium celebrations of Gdańsk (25); a series of concerts during the Gdańsk Millennium co-organized with the Polish-German Foundation in the presence of the President of Germany, Roman Herzog, and the President of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski (2005); a concert by Jean Michel Jarre in the Gdańsk Shipyard "It started in Gdańsk – a space of freedom" on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the founding of Solidarity and the signing of the August Agreements (2006); a concert by David Gilmour in the Gdańsk Shipyard "It started in Gdańsk – a space of freedom" on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Solidarity and as part of the "On An Island" concert tour (2008); the first performance of Jan AP Kaczmarek's cantata Cantata on Freedom at the Gdańsk Shipyard on the anniversary of August '75 (2008); participation of the Wind Section of the PFB Symphony Orchestra in the performance of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Seven Gates of Jerusalem as part of a concert on the occasion of the composer’s 70th birthday, conducted by the Jubilarian himself, under whose baton also the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, choir and soloists played (20); as part of the “Solidarity of Arts” Festival and the global celebrations of the 2009th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II and the 2009th anniversary of regaining freedom and the fall of communism in Central Europe (2011) - a performance of Britten’s War Requiem under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner and the concert “The Space of Freedom – Strange Is This World” with Ian Gillan of Deep Purple (Targ Węglowy, 2010); Sting's concert in Gdańsk as part of the "Sting Symphonicity" world tour (Ergo-Arena Hall, 2011), participation of the orchestra's musicians in open-air jazz shows with the participation of giants of the world music scene - MOŻDŻER+ (XNUMX) and MARCUS+ (XNUMX).

In addition to concert activities, the Music and Congress Center in Ołowianka offers the possibility of renting rooms, becoming a place for symposia, congresses, international industry conferences and occasional meetings.

The center has the following halls: Concert Hall (1100 seats) and Chamber Hall (180 seats), Biała (180 seats) and Dębowa (100 seats). Concerts, special meetings and external events are organized in these rooms and in the adjacent foyer with a total area of ​​1700 m2. A unique advantage of the Gdańsk Music and Congress Center is the ability to increase the prestige of meetings by enriching them with music performed by a symphony orchestra.

Being a universal musical institution, the Philharmonic also conducts studio activities. The cutting-edge digital technologies used in the recording studio and a team of licensed acousticians guarantee a high level of services offered, from studio and concert recordings to full post-recording processing of sound material (including mastering and remastering).

There is also a fine arts gallery in the Center on Ołowianka. Initially, occasionally during various types of celebrations, over time it became more permanent. It presents works by local and foreign artists.
