Daniel Ciobanu is the winner of 2017nd place and the audience award at the International Piano Competition. Arthur Rubinstein in Tel Aviv in 2020. Last season, he returned to the Concertgebouw with a solo recital, gave recitals in Germany, and gave concerts with the Dresden Staatskapelle, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orquesta da Galicia. In 2017, Ciobanu founded the Neamt Music Festival in his hometown of Piatra Neamtin, Romania, to create a fresh and innovative international platform for the cream of today's young artists. The week-long festival takes place every year in the Carpathians and includes not only classical programs, but also other art forms, including jazz, video-mapping, painting and dance.
In 2015, the artist received the Grand Prix, the Audience Award and the Orchestral Prize at the International Piano Competition of the Moroccan Philharmonic - becoming the first pianist in the history of the competition to win all the Special Prizes and was unanimously selected by the jury for the Main Prize. He is also the winner of the XNUMXst prize and special prize for the best classical sonata at the UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria (South Africa) and the XNUMXst prize at the BNDES International Piano Competition in Rio de Janeiro.
He began learning the piano at the age of nine in Piatra Neamt in Romania, initially with Magdolna Cosma and Delia Balan, later with Mihaela Spiridon and Iulian Arcadi Trofin. He then won scholarships to study in Scotland with Graeme McNaught, and then with Aaron Shorr and Petras Geniusas, graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Scotland. He graduated from the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris with Marian Rybicki and at the Universität der Künste in Berlin with Pascal Devoyon and Markus Groh.
